Page 3 of 4 Technology Enhancements
Web Enablement
The JD Edwards World Web interface supports a Java client deployment to ease installation, improve performance and create a crisp look and feel.
- You can access field specific helps from the F1 key or from three corners of the screen.
- New action buttons and links at the top of each panel enable the user to link to websites and internal documents.
- A Dynamic Build feature, embedded in the Java software, reduces the need for a custom GUI panel for every RPG screen format.
Service Oriented Architecture
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a collection of applications – exposed as services – residing on a network. These services are intended to communicate among each other in a Web-based language with a common interface. The system uses and combines the data from these applications across whatever part of the IT infrastructure is service enabled.
Service Enablement
JD Edwards World Service Enablement is planned to join even technologically disparate systems and tools to offer a composite view to an end user. Basically, independent pieces of software would talk to one another in a common language over the Web without affecting each other.
PC Import/Export
Both imports (uploads) and exports run either interactively or in batch mode. The batch imports use JD Edwards World’s Z-File processing, so you can scrutinize all of the import data and change it if necessary, prior to updating live system data.
Electronic Signature
When used in conjunction with JD Edwards World’s existing capability, Database Audit Manager, JD Edwards World’s eSignature capability helps mitigate the expense of complying with the Food and Drug Administration’s 21CFR Part 11.
Approvals Management
The Approvals Management system is expected to leverage one set of programs for use across the entire system. For the initial release, the Approvals Management system only integrates with the enhanced Address Books system. It allows the system to intercept transactions requiring approvals before updating the production database.
